Youth Co: Lab Indonesia Alumni Workshop (Coming Soon)

Young people dominate the unemployed population in Indonesia: three quarters of unemployed people were youth in 2019 and the level of youth unemployment increased from 13.03 percent to 15.23 percent between August 2019 and August 2020. At the same time, with the country’s demographic dividend and a high volume of public consumption, youth entrepreneurship in Indone- sia has the potential to mitigate youth unemployment, build robust and inclusive economic growth and contribute to sustainable development. Entrepreneurship does not only help young people acquire economic independence but allows them to drive job generation and well-being among their peers and communities.
Youth Co:Lab is an initiative that aims to empower youth through innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills. Co-led by Citi Foundation and UNDP, this initiative has been implemented in more than 20 countries including Indonesia. Youth Co:Lab in Indonesia aims to empower young people, especially those located outside Java. The program has been running since 2018 in Indonesia, producing 4 cohorts of entrepreneurs from the ideation to the scale up phase up until now. Currently, Youth Co:Lab in Indonesia plans to create a sustainability program for the alumni to help them tackle problems faced in their entrepreneurial journey, while at the same time, fostering collaboration within the alumni.
To be able to design the right program, in early 2022, UNDP created a survey to better understand the alumni’s needs and problems. Based on the alumni’s needs, UNDP Indonesia found out that the alumni need in-depth workshops to further continue their learnings about businesses. These workshops will act as a catalysator and a room for discussion for a more advanced business skill, to grow the youth social entrepreneur’s businesses further.
